Most Important and Technical Part
So, you want to do SEO for a multilingual website, but before you try to rank a multilingual website, you must be
able to rank a single-language website.
If you do not have a proper understanding of SEO, how does it work? You will have a hard time ranking any website,
therefore I recommend you to first clear the basic SEO in case you are not aware of it
But I’m assuming you already know basic SEO. Now let’s dive deep into how to do SEO for a multilingual website. Here are the basic things you need to do right to rank a multilingual website in google
1. You must use different URLs with annotations
For example, you have one article written on how to do SEO in two different languages, one in English and one in
French. Now you must create two different links to rank these two articles; do not ever try to combine them on one page.
A clear example
www.domain.com/En/how-to-do-seo
www.domain.com/Fr/Comment-faire-du-référencement
I hope this was easy to understand. This is the first step: create different URLS and use annotations like EN for English,
Fr for France, and IN for India ( Basically Hindi)
2. Use hreflang annotations to help Google link to the correct language version
Use it in the HTML header of each page.
For example:
link hreflang="en" href="http://www.example.com"
link hreflang="fr" href="http://www.example.com/fr"
3. Label your pages with language or region information using hreflang or sitemaps
For example :
To generate this code, you can use this link: https://ettvi.com/technical/hreflang-tag-generator.
4. Let users switch between different language versions of a page by adding hyperlinks.
You can add hyperlinks in the header or footer of your website that allow users to switch between the
different language versions of your pages.

Second Most Important Part
Actually, this is the first thing you need to get right, but the reason I’m mentioning it after the technical part is because it can be easily understood.
1. Do keyword research in the right way –Make sure it has enough volume people are actually searching for the topic otherwise what’s the point of ranking if nobody is landing on your website because nobody is looking for it except it will increase your authority Read it again; it will increase your authority.
2. Make Quality Content: Make sure you have done in-depth research before writing and providing high-quality content that none of your competitors are providing.
3. SERP Analysis – Do not forget to check who is ranking in the serp if the website that are ranking in serp are highly authorative and matching the intent 100% google is less likely to give you a shot in the serp
4. Which bring us to increasing your authority of your website by creating quality content and AKA backlinks
